[lang_ie]Shíl muid ar dtús go raibh rud inteacht cearr le Pádraig Ó Léime, Príomhoide Coláiste na Carraige, nuair a d’inis sé dúinn go mbeidh 10 maratón críochnaithe acu taobh istigh de 20 bomaite!
Chun an fhírinne a insint, síleadh gur tháinig sé ar sean bocsa seacláid ó shiopa milseáin na scoile.
Ach, nach glic iad sin thíos i gColáiste na Carraige agus an casadh a cuireadh ar an scéal agus iad ag gabháil a bpáirt a ghlacadh i seoladh Bord Oideachais agus Oiliúna Dhún na nGall (21-25 Deireadh Fómhair).
Le 240 dalta ann agus 20 ar an fhoireann, sin 260, agus le míle le siúl nó le rith ag gach aon duine acu, beidh 10 maratón críochnaithe acu taobh istigh de 20 bomaite! “Seo an dóigh a gcuireann muidne an t-oideachas chun cinn anseo san Iardheisceart,” a dúirt an Príomhoide, “mar fhoireann amháin ag obair le chéile, agus giota den ghreann fosta.”
Agus níl deireadh leis an choisíocht galánta le sin. Beidh céilí acu fosta ar an Choláiste oíche Déardaoin 24ú ag a hocht agus beidh fáilte mhór roimh gach duine ann.[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]When Principal Ó Léime of Coláiste na Carraige in Carrick telephoned Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) to let them know that the school would be completing 10 Marathons in 20 Minutes, staff at the ETB thought that sounded just a little ambitious.
In fact, first thoughts were that perhaps someone had found a dusty box of Marathon chocolate bars in the tuck shop!
However, leave it to Coláiste na Carraige to take a novel approach. For as part of the celebrations week to launch Donegal Education and Training Board (October 21st to 25th) students and staff will each walk one mile to mark the occasion. With 240 students and 20 staff that comes to 260 miles, or 10 marathons.
“We are one team in Coláiste na Carraige and by working together we can and do achieve so much more.”, said Pádraig Ó Léime, Principal. “Our 10 Marathons in 20 Minutes reflects our approach to education – working together and having fun”, he stated.
And the fancy footwork doesn’t stop there. At 8:30p.m. on Thursday, 24th October, there will be a Céilí in the school and everyone is invited to come along and join in the fun.
Coláiste na Carraige is one of 15 Second Level Schools in the county operating under the auspices of Donegal ETB, formerly Co. Donegal VEC.[/lang_en-uk]
